1908 - Aerial View of San Fernando Valley
Hand-colored photo of the San Fernando Valley dated 1908. The framed photo was found in storage at the Burbank Central Library in 2015. Notes on the back of the photo indicate it was once owned by George Luttge, a prominent Burbank resident of the early 1900s. Back of photo: "1908 San Fernando Valley from Stough Hills." Printed on the frame mat: "San Fernando Valley - 1908. Courtesy of Burbank Main Library." Back of the frame is stamped "Property of Security First National Bank" with a hand-written note underneath that adds "Photo belongs to Burbank Library." Another stamp reads: "Parlor Portraits, Hand-fashioned Classics of the 90's, 334 So. Lamer - TH. 8-7275, Burbank, California"

1919 - Central Avenue View No. 3
Image is from the early 1900s and is marked "Central Ave. View No. 3." Another similar slide has the date 1919 penciled in the corner. Slide is dated May 1961.
1919 - Magnolia Avenue View No. 10
The year 1919 is penciled on top of this slide that shows undeveloped land with some unidentifiable buildings in the background.
1919 - Verdugo Avenue
Image is from the early 1910s and is marked "Verdugo Ave. View No. 13." Another similar slide has the date 1919 penciled in the corner. Slide is dated May 1961.

Back of photo is stamped "This photograph is furnished on condition that whenever it is used credit will be given to Historical Collections: Security First National Bank." This image came from a collection of images donated by the Delores Palmer Estate. She was a BUSD employee for many years and authored the book "A History of Burbank."

An aerial view of San Fernando Road and Burbank's Business District taken in 1924. Santa Anita Ave. is the horizontal street at the bottom of the photo, with San Fernando Rd running vertically and crossing Verdugo, Tujunga, Angeleno and Olive. Back of photo is stamped "This photograph is furnished on condition that whenever it is used credit will be given to Historical Collections: Security First National Bank." This image came from a collection of images donated by the Delores Palmer Estate. She was a BUSD employee for many years and authored the book "A History of Burbank."

1930s - Aerial View of Burbank Airport
Aerial view of Burbank airport before much was built up around it. The airport and its handsome Spanish Revival-style terminal was a showy competitor to nearby Grand Central Airport in Glendale, which was then Los Angeles' main airline terminal. The new Burbank facility was actually the largest commercial airport in the Los Angeles area until it was eclipsed in 1946 by the Los Angeles Airport.
