He was born on May 13, 1919 in Tacoma, Washington and died on June 4, 1991 in Los Angeles, California. His Burbank Leader obituary read, "Dallas Mason Williams, two-time Burbank mayor and one of Southern California radio's earliest independent commercial producers, died Tuesday after a long bout with cancer. He was 72. According to his wife, Gayle Scott Williams, her husband was 'the only liberal' on a conservative council. Williams had a hand in several city street improvements, including several of Burbank's many overpasses. As a pioneer in off-beat commercials, a more contemporary generation of listeners may remember Williams best for the 'Hey, Culligan Man!' commericals. He has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the coveted 'Clio.' In 1988 Williams received the Southern California Broadcasters Association Career Achievement Award. The Hollywood Advertising Club presented William with its International Broadcasting Award over a period spanning 15 years, from 1961-1976. A native of Tacoma, Washington, Williams attended the University of Washington and received a Juris Doctor degree from Southwestern University School of Law. He was an active member of ASCAP, SAG, AFTRA, AARP, and the Procrastinators' Club of America. Williams is survived by his wife, Gayle; sons Dallas Williams Jr, of Arcata, California and Bayard Hugh Williams of Cauycos, California." June 5, 1991.
