Photo of Fun After Forty club members dancing at the Auld Lang Syne building at the Olive Recreation Center in 1968. The club, formed in the late 1950s, held dances at the Auld Lang Syne building until outgrowing the site's 140-person capacity and moving their dances to the Joslyn Adult Center in the early 1970s. The club was so popular for a time that in 1974 their dances often exceeded 300 persons and, according to the LA Times, attendance at club events was 25,436 for the year. Though members needed to be over 40 years old, most members were closer to 70, according to club president Art McNamee, as reported in the Times.
