1968 - Crowd at Marine Day
1968
A crowd of onlookers view the Marine Day program at the Golden Mall in 1968. Marine Day was an annual event held at Burbank's Golden Mall in the late 60s and early 70s. Each year, several hundred Marines from Camp Pendleton were invited to a public celebration at the Mall. The event was followed by a trip to Disneyland in which the Marines were accompanied by teen hostesses from local high schools. This photo was taken at the first Marine Day, held March 23, 1968. Pieces of a Marine Band can be seen in the background, near the center of the photo. Dr. S. Sinell optometrist shop is visible to the left.
