1998 - The Moving Wall at McCambridge Park
1998
Veteran firing squad salute at The Moving Wall, which stopped in Burbank from February 16 - February 22, 1998. The Moving Wall is a half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C., devised by John Devitt after he attended the 1982 annual commemoration ceremonies celebrated in Washington for Vietnam veterans. It went on display for the first time in Tyler, Texas, in October 1984. According to The Moving Wall Sponsors' Handbook, "the artifacts, which people leave just as they have done in Washington, DC since the beginning, are collected, boxed, and marked at each location then taken back to White Pine, Michigan. They are currently stored in The Moving Wall’s warehouse/office complex. A museum will be built and all the artifacts that have been left at The Moving Wall will be displayed".
